MGNREGS brings a new look to Shohshrieh village with scenic view point
Shohshrieh village has transformed into a new tourist hotspot with the inauguration of the Tuber Shohshrieh Khliehpynthor View Point, which offers breathtaking views of the Pynthor Myntdu, located on the bank of the river Myntdu. The ceremony, held on October 26, showcased the impact of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) in enhancing local infrastructure and promoting tourism.
With an investment of Rs 20.33 lakhs, the view point was developed to boost the local economy while providing employment opportunities for residents. The initiative highlights the effective use of MGNREGS in creating sustainable projects that benefit the community.
Minister of Tourism Paul Lyngdoh, who inaugurated the view point, praised the village employment council for their hard work and dedication in executing this project. He emphasized that the view point not only beautifies the area but also creates opportunities for local businesses by attracting tourists.
In addition to the view point, the village council has proposed a zipline attraction to further enhance the visitor experience. Minister Lyngdoh assured the community that he would facilitate the necessary assessments to bring this exciting project to life.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by various dignitaries, including cabinet minister and MLA Khliehriat Kyrmen Shylla, Deputy CEM JHADC Lasky Rymbai, Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills Shivanash Awasthi and Waheh Shnong Shohshrieh Lar Bang, among others.
As visitors flock to the newly inaugurated Tuber Shohshrieh Khliehpynthor View Point, Shohshrieh stands as a shining example of how MGNREGS can bring a fresh and vibrant look to rural communities while fostering economic growth.
