MHA summons Meghalaya govt over issue of Harijan Colony
SHILLONG: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has summoned the state government over the issue related to the Harijan Colony at Them Iew Mawlong.
Deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong told reporters on Wednesday that the MHA has called the state to discuss the issue in Delhi on Thursday.
“The chief secretary PS Thangkhiew will attend the meeting tomorrow. They will sit down and present all the details before the ministry,” he said.
According to him, there is a need to have such meeting between the state and the central government as it is good to listen to both sides and look at documents to understand the situation.
The decision to summon the state also came after Shiromani Akali Dal leader from Delhi, Manjinder Singh Sirsa has sought the intervention of Union home minister, Amit Shah following the recent threat issued by the proscribed Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC).
