MHHDC Ltd launched E-catalogue for rural artisans
Aiming to promote products made by rural artisans and weavers of Meghalaya to reach a wider audience within and outside the state, the Handloom & Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited (MHHDC Ltd.) launched the E-catalogue on August 1.
MLA & Chairperson of MHHDC Ltd Santa Mary Shylla, MLA launched the E-catalogue of MHHDC Ltd. in the presence of other Directors of the Board of MHHDC Ltd. in a private function at the Committee Room, Main Secretariat Building, Shillong.
On this occasion, she said, “This initiative of the Corporation will uplift the livelihood of the rural craftsperson and will enable them to showcase their exquisite products on the online platforms thereby bridging the gap between them and the customers.”
Customers and craft collectors can browse the link: meghhdc.co.in or scan the QR code given to shop for sustainable and organic products made from natural raw materials of Cane, bamboo, wood and also featuring the hand-woven clothing and accessories.
It may be mentioned that the Meghalaya Handloom And Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited, Shillong, which is a Government of Meghalaya undertaking was incorporated on January 10, 1979 with the objective to develop and promote handicrafts and handloom in all aspects in the state of Meghalaya.
It aims to uplift the rural artisans, weavers and entrepreneurs and to empower them with the necessary skill sets required to meet consumer demands. Currently, the Corporation is marketing the products through its Sales outlets at Commercial Annex, Meghalaya House, Russel Street, Kolkata, West Bengal, Shop No.6, MTC Building, Jail Road, Shillong, Meghalaya, Shop No.22, Ground Floor, ES EF Mall, G.S. Road, Shillong,ISBT, Mawiong, Shillong, Meghalaya.
