Minor girl from EKH rescued in West Bengal
A fifteen-year-old girl from East Khasi Hills District was on Saturday rescued from West Bengal after she was reportedly gone missing from her residence, police said here.
Assistant Inspector General of Police (A) GK Iangrai said that the girl was found missing since March 12 and a kidnapping case was registered at Lumdiengjri police station.
He said the CID was informed yesterday for assistance in tracking the girl. Initially the number being tracked was incorrect and the girl was thought to be still in Shillong.
“After checking out all the locations in Shillong we realised that the girl was using a different number. The number was tracked to Cooch Behar,” Iangrai said.
The CID got in touch with SP Cooch Behar Santosh Nimbalkar who activated his team in Buxirhat PS. A team led by Inspector Kashyap effected the rescue, he said.
