MLA Santa Mary Shylla distributes tablets to ASHA workers in East Jaintia Hills
MLA of 5-Sutnga-Saipung Constituency, Santa Mary Shylla, distributed mobile tablets to ASHA Workers and ASHA Facilitators of East Jaintia Hills District at a programme held on September 6 at the Conference Hall, office of the Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District. The event was attended by Deputy Commissioner Shivansh Awasthi, Additional Deputy Commissioner JU Kharpuri, Assistant Commissioner S Malviya, District Medical and Health Officer Dr. D Shylla, along with other health officials, ASHAs, and ASHA Facilitators.
In her speech, Shylla expressed her gratitude to the ASHAs and ASHA facilitators of the district for their valubale contribution to the health sector even as she took the occasion to applaud their relentless efforts in promoting the health and wellbeing of people in the society. Shylla also spoke on the initiative taken by the Government to provide ASHAs and ASHA facilitators with Tablets in order to facilitate ease of data collection and reporting even as she also informed them on the CM-SMS scheme.
Speaking on the contribution made by ASHAs in helping women during childbearing period she also encouraged them to educate people in their respective community with regards to the importance of health and to encourage women to opt for institutional delivery.
Further, she also called upon the ASHAs and ASHA facilitators to utilize to the optimum every assistance provided by the government in promoting the health and wellbeing of the citizens of the state.
It may be mentioned that this initiative of distributing tablets to ASHA workers and ASHA facilitators led by the National Health Mission (NHM) was conceptualised with the aim of improving healthcare services through digitization of data collection and reporting. The distribution forms part of the government’s effort to leverage digital technology for better health outcomes in the state of Meghalaya. The tablets are preloaded with necessary applications tailored to assist ASHAs in their daily tasks, streamlining data uploads and ensuring more efficient healthcare management. Moreover, presentations, tracking, online reporting, etc can be done by ASHAs and ASHA Facilitators through the tablets made available to them.
Others who spoke during the programme include District Medical and Health Officer; Dr. D Shylla, DSO in charge (IDSC) cum District Nodal Officer Dr. Luckystar Sungoh; and District Immunization Officer in charge Dr. NP Suchiang.
