M’laya govt to take experts view before deciding to call off rescue ops at Khloo Ryngksan
SHILLONG: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Monday said the state government will take inputs from all the experts before taking a final decision on whether to call off the ongoing operations to rescue the 15 miners trapped in coal mine in East Jaintia Hills District.
Reacting to reports citing that the state government is likely to call off the operations, Sangma said the government is yet to decide on that.
“We are going to take inputs from all the experts from different organisations that have been working on this,” he said adding “Once we speak to them and get a report on what is happening on the ground zero then will be able to take a call on it.”
At least 15 miners were trapped in an illegal coal mine at Khloo Ryngksan in East Jaintia Hills District since December 13, last year.
It was only after a month that the Indian Navy recently could detect the body of one of the miners.
Asked, the chief minister however said the operation to retrieve the body (which is in a highly decomposed state) has been suspended because it is really not working out.
