MLCU observed World No Tobacco Day
JOWAI: Martin Luther Christian University observed World No Tobacco Day on the 31st of May 2019 with a sensitisation programme organised by the NSS unit of the university. The theme of the programme was ‘Tobacco and Lung Health’.
A faculty of the AHS Department gave a short presentation on the harmful effects that consumption of tobacco, especially smoking, has on the lungs and on the overall health of a person. The most unfortunate fact is that smoking not only affects the smoker himself but even on the ones secondarily exposed to the smoke. The presentation was accompanied by graphs, pictures and videos.
The programme ended with each and every participant taking a pledge to neither smoke themselves nor encourage others to smoke.
