Mock drill on disaster preparedness held in Thomas Jones Synod College
A two days long training and Mock Drill programmes on Disaster Calamities organised by the Thomas Jones Synod College, Jowai Disaster Management Cell and Civil Defence, Jowai concluded at the college campus on Thursday.
The objective of the training was to create awareness about precautionary measures to be adopted during a disaster and to be acquainted with basic skills on how to save life while tackling disasters that can occur at any time.
SI F Lamare Civil Defence and Home Guards, West Jaintia Hills District demonstrated on how to administer first aid to injured individuals before the arrival of rescue team and equipment.
A mock drill exercise was also conducted where an earthquake was presumed to occured at 11 am. Students and teaching faculty participated in the exercise.
A team of Civil Defence personnel demonstrated on the evacuation and rescue of the injured individuals.
Trained volunteers help the injured students and who were trapped inside the building and provide first aid before arrival of rescue team.
