Mortal remains of Rngain’s landslides victims extracted from debris of rocks
The mortal remains of Wahlyngkat Headman Seiborlang Jaktung and Krenjunelang Khongjrem were finally extracted from the debris of rocks on late Saturday night and on Sunday respectively after their mortal remain were recovered buried under the debris on Saturday evening.
It may be recalled on Friday evening, one Datsun RediGo MLO5 T 7892 was buried under heavy debris of boulders on Friday evening due to occurrence of landslide in Rngain area. Two persons were reported to be trapped under debris due to the landslide.
Police informed that the Mahindra Bolero bearing ML06A 3026 sustained damages due to impact of the landslide and it was driven by Evernus Mylliem Pdah of Mawiapbang with 8 other passengers.
However, only 5(five) passengers including the driver were taken to Pynursla CHC for medical examination and were later released after first aid.
The road was cut off by big boulders and efforts are on to restored vehicular movement.
Meanwhile, the Pynursla SDO (Civil) informed that NH-40 Shillong-Dawki road is cut off at Rngain area due to landslide that happened on Friday.
Further, commuters are appealed to exercise due caution while commuting especially during the night as then is every likelihood of further landslides in the area.
