Mowkaiaw constituency still without a Govt Secondary School/Higher Secondary Schools even after 50 years of Statehood

The State of Meghalaya is celebrating its Golden Jubilee Year but the students’ communities of 4-Mowkaiaw Assembly Constituency are still deprived of a Government Secondary School and Government Higher Secondary School till date and if not for the private or missionary schools they would still have to go all the way to Jowai for attending Secondary Classes.
This was disclosed by Congress Leader Nehemayah Tyngkan in a press conference at Infinity Hall, Jowai here this afternoon.
Informing that the people of Constituency are mostly agrarian who grow Ginger, Brooms and Turmeric on large scale, Tyngkan said that their economic conditions are still miserable as there is no proper marketing channel or godown as there is no initiative taken by the Meghalaya Government to improve their plight.
Lambasting the Meghalaya Government for upgrading Community & Rural Development Blocks which were recently formed to the level of Sub Division (Civil), Tyngkan said that Laskein Block was born with the birth of Meghalaya and it deserved to be upgraded for meeting the aspiration of the people of the areas which are still reeling in backwardness and under development.
“I will go to the Court if require to fight for the rights of the people of the areas if the Govt still do not pay heed to aspiration of Sub Division (Civil),” he said.
Announcing his decision of entering the fray from 4-Mowkaiaw A/C again in 2023, Tyngkan informed that 4-Mowkaiaw A/C has 9560 households and blessed with a population of 78423 and the Constituency is still under developed and backward in comparison with other constituencies in Jaintia Hills region.
He urged the people of the Constituency most importantly the youths to elect him as their MLA and he will do his level best to address their needs and work for the all round development of the constituency.
