MPCC condoles death of Vora
The Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) on Monday expressed shock and grief at the passing away of veteran Congress leader Motilal Vora.
MPCC recalled that the grand old man of the party became a Congress member at an early age.
“He has the rare distinction of serving the party under the leaderships of Bharat Ratna Indira Gandhi, Bharat Ratna Rajiv Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi and always stood by the side of the party, even during its most difficult days, with unstinted loyalty and devotion to the party,” MPCC working president James Lyngdoh said.
“He, apart from being the Chief Minister of the undivided state of Madhya Pradesh, the Member of Parliament for several decades, General Secretary All India Congress Committee, a long serving member of the Congress Working Committee, most importantly held and successfully managed the funds of the party as the most illustrious Treasurer of All India Congress Committee,” he said.
Lyngdoh also recalled his long association with the party in Meghalaya and observed that he had profound love and respect for the party and the people of state. He was always helpful to Meghalaya PCC, and always stood by its side in need.
“With his sad demise the party has lost one of the strongest pillars of strength and
the void caused due to his passing away would be difficult to fill,” the working president said while expressing condolences to the bereaved family.
