The Meghalaya State Olympic Association (MSOA) laid out its ambitious vision for the future of sports in the state during its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on December 18 at JN Stadium, Shillong. Chaired by John F. Kharshiing, the meeting focused on key developments, including plans to host the National Games in 2027 and the proposal for a new Meghalaya Sports Bill to enhance the state’s sports policy.
A moment of silence was observed for the late Chiranjib Choudhury, Stadhi Nongrim, and Eugene K. Marak, all of whom had a lasting impact on sports in the region.

Additionally, new initiatives to develop and support athletes, including talent identification programs and equipment procurement, were presented as significant milestones.
Looking forward, the MSOA outlined plans to bring the prestigious National Games to Meghalaya in 2027. Preparations are already in motion, focusing on team readiness and identifying priority sports. The association also discussed the need for a comprehensive Meghalaya Sports Bill, designed to implement the state’s 2019 Sports Policy effectively and ensure long-term growth in the sector.
The appointment of Cliff Nongrum to the MSOA Executive Council was also confirmed. The AGM concluded with renewed optimism for the future of Meghalaya sports, as MSOA aims to drive growth, secure national recognition, and create a lasting legacy for athletes in the state.
