MSSASA to hold mass rally in Shillong on Nov 9
The Meghalaya SSA School Association (MSSASA) on Friday has decided to hold a mass rally in Shillong on November 9, as a mark of protest against the state government’s indifferent attitude towards the plight of over 12,000 SSA teachers in the state.
Addressing media persons, president of the association Aristotle Rymbai said, “We have decided to intensify our agitation by organizing a mass rally on November 9.”
He said that the state government had turned a deaf ear to the pleas of the SSA teachers, which are protesting throughout the state.
“We not only demand the release of our pending salary but also for regularizing all SSA teachers in the state and also to implement the pay scales of the teachers according to the prescribed norms of the Right to Education (RTE),” Rymbai said.
He informed that 12541 SSA teachers for the last four months are facing many difficulties due to the non-release of their salary by the state government.
On the other hand Rymbai informed that the MSSASA previously had met education minister Lahkmen Rymbui yet till date they have never received any positive response from his side which indicates that he as the head of the department is least bothered about the plight of the teachers.
On the claim made by the education minister that the state is yet to receive funds for the SSA teachers salary, Rymbai said that according to the prescribed norms of RTE 2009 Chapter-3 and Section 7 Clause (1), Section Clause (VII), it clearly stated that all state government must reserved special corpus funds for the payment of salary until the central government releases the sanction amount to the state government but till date state government has never had any special corpus funds to pay the SSA teachers salary
