MSSASA to soon take a call on govt’s decision to put on hold proposal to enhance salary of SSA teachers in Meghalaya
The Meghalaya SSA Schools Association (MSSASA) has decided to soon take a call on the state government’s decision to put on proposal for enhancing the salary of over 12,541 SSA teachers across the state.
Addressing a news conference on Friday, MSSASA president Aristotle C Rymbai said, “We will unanimously take a decision during the upcoming general executive council (GEC) meeting on September 21, on the steps to be taken in regards to the replies received from the Director of School Education & Literacy (DSEL) and State Project Director, Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) Swapnil Tembe on the issue of salary enhancement and regularization of the services of the SSA teachers.”
He informed that the delegation of the MSSASA had met Tembe on September 10.
“During that meeting, he (Tembe) informed the association that he had received an instruction from the commissioner & secretary, education to put on hold for time being the proposal for enhancement of salary,” Rymbai said.
“Two, the state project director also informed the association that the education department proposes to move to the cabinet pertaining to regularization of the services of SSA teachers,” he added.
Further, Rymbai said that the association has been following up these two issues with the government following its indefinite sit-in-demonstration held in July 2022.
According to him, the association have held series of meeting with the government at the level of deputy chief minister and education minister regarding these two important issues.
