‘Mukul still a force to be reckoned with’ says Rymbui
United Democratic Party leader and cabinet minister Lahkmen Rymbui on Friday asked dissidents within the opposition Congress to realize that the former chief minister Dr Mukul Sangma is still a force to be reckoned with.
He was commenting on the outstanding performance of the Congress under the leadership of Mukul Sangma in the just concluded elections to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC).
The Congress emerged as a single largest party after winning in 12 out of 29 seats.
Speaking to reporters, Rymbui said that the election was a lesson for the Congress because even among themselves they thought that Mukul Sangma is gone and that he should be done away with.
“But from this election, the Congress should realize that Mukul still has weight and that they cannot just throw him out of the party,” he said.
“This is not for me but for those (dissidents) in the Congress who often say minus Mukul, that he is still a force to reckon with,” the minister added as he suggested the Congress to introspect on this aspect pertaining to any attempt to change the present leadership.
