  • Mushroom poisoning case in WJH: 3 minor dies, others in critical condition

    Three minors died on Saturday while others are in critical condition after consuming wild mushrooms in Saphai village under Laskein C&RD Block in West Jaintia Hills District. 

    District police chief Chemphang Syrti said that three families in Saphai Village, West Jaintia Hills District were affected by mushroom poisoning. They were taken to MCH hospital, Jowai by their family members for treatment. 

    The first family affected includes the mother Jumonlang Suchiang (43 yrs) who was referred to Nazareth Hospital, Shillong along with her son 11 months old and they are in critical condition. 

    Her sons Wansalan Suchiang (14) and Kitlangki Suchiang (10) and daughter Riwansaka Suchiang (8) had expired in MCH hospital, Jowai.

    The second family that was affected includes Ribaitki Shadap and Shanmi Chympa and they are in critical condition in Jowai Civil Hospital, Ialong, while Heilina Shadap was discharged from the hospital.

    The third family affected includes Obar Sutnga (70), Anna Suchiang (56) and Nidawan Kanai (12) and they too are in critical condition in NEIGRIHMS.
