Mushroom production training programme at EEI in Guwahati
“Wide publicity needs to be given to farmers regarding the huge medicinal properties and the market demands so that more entrepreneurs come forward to produce good quality mushrooms in Assam” stated Dr R Bordoloi, Director, EEI- NE Region, AAU, while inaugurating a Mushroom Production Training Programme held at Extension Education Institute- NER on July 9.
Dr Manoj Kalita, Professor, AAU, Guwahati acted as the chief trainer for the programme and explained the scientific methods. He stated that Bihar is currently the Indian state producing the largest quantity of mushrooms for sale in the domestic as well as international markets.
In the inaugural session, Dr S Borua, Faculty, EEI-NER, AAU Guwahati welcomed all and appealed to all to take Mushroom production as a profitable entrepreneurial venture. Dr C Deka, Faculty, EEI, AAU, Guwahati introduced various similar training programmes that was being organized in various parts of NE Region.
The training programme attended by over 25 participants was organized jointly by two private agencies, Axom Agri Consulting LLP, Jorhat and A. B. C, Golaghat. A prominent Mushroom Entrepreneur Mrs Tulika Gogoi Swargiary conducted the Skill training sessions to impart the hands-on practices to the participants hailing from various villages in Assam and Meghalaya.
Dr Shamima Saikia, coordinator anchored the event on behalf of Axom Agri Consulting LLP.
