Nazareth Hospital in Shillong achieves NABH accreditation for quality care

In a significant milestone for healthcare in Shillong, Nazareth Hospital has achieved a prestigious NABH accreditation. This accomplishment not only places Nazareth Hospital among a select group of around 1,000 healthcare institutions nationwide but also underscores its unwavering commitment to patient safety and the delivery of high-quality healthcare services.

The statement from the hospital stated that the accreditation was obtained after rigorous compliance with numerous quality standards, represents a testament to Nazareth Hospital’s dedication to providing exceptional care in an ever-evolving healthcare environment. Valid for four years from July 27, 2023 to July 26, 2027, this accreditation journey began in 2016, marking Nazareth Hospital as the first institution in Meghalaya to receive the entry-level certification.

In the recent past, several new facilities have been started at Nazareth hospital. These include state of the art modular OT complex which allows greater patient safety and convenience while complex surgeries are performed by specialists and super specialists, new labour room, new pediatrics ward, neonatal intensive care unit with greater number of beds, new pediatric intensive care unit. At the same time, highly skilled human resources in the form of neurosurgeon, pediatric surgeon and cardiologist in addition to so many others offer their services to patients.

One of the noteworthy additions to Nazareth Hospital’s services is the availability of MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), a non-invasive medical imaging test that provides detailed and comprehensive images of various internal structures within the human body including the organs, bones, muscles and blood vessels. This cutting-edge technology enhances diagnostic capabilities and contributes to more accurate and timely medical interventions.

In addition to this, the hospital’s laboratory services have garnered NABL certification, beginning with biochemistry and pathology in 2017. Subsequently, the laboratory has expanded its scope to encompass biochemistry, microbiology, molecular diagnostics, hematology, and clinical pathology. This recognition in laboratory accreditation signifies the trustworthiness of test results from Nazareth Hospital, as it demonstrates the hospital’s technical competence in conducting specific tests and measurements, all conducted in accordance with international standards and verified through third-party assessment.
