NECTAR and Jio Institute bridge academia-industry gap
The Academic Research Connect & Immersion (ARCI) Program, an initiative of NECTAR, an autonomous body under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, in collaboration with Jio Institute, concluded a groundbreaking five-day event from July 1st to 5th at the Jio Institute campus in Ulwe, Navi Mumbai.
This initiative brought together 17 PhD scholars and 4 MSc students from diverse fields such as Biotechnology, Artificial Intelligence, Physics, and Mining. The ARCI program was meticulously designed to provide these bright minds with the opportunity to present their research papers to an esteemed audience of faculty members, industry leaders, students, and Jio Institute leadership.
Aimed at bridging the gap between academia and industry, particularly for students from the serene yet industrially limited North East region of India, the program focused on raising awareness about industrial opportunities and fostering meaningful connections.
Dr. Arun Sarma, Director General of NECTAR, and Dr. Palak Sheth, Project Director of Jio Institute, were instrumental in bringing this program to life. The program was meticulously organized and managed by Shiv Shukla, Head of Policy, Government Affairs & Growth Projects at Jio Institute, along with Simanta Das, Chief Radio Technology, Dr. Pampee Das, Senior Analyst, and Dr. Lily Shylla, Project Officer from NECTAR.
Participants praised the program for its role as a catalyst for intellectual growth and professional development. Renowned speakers provided expert insights, and industrial visits, including tours of textile factories and the cutting-edge Reliance 5G centre, offered students a comprehensive understanding of industrial operations and innovations.
This initiative marks a significant step in fostering collaboration between academia and industry, paving the way for a brighter and more interconnected future for students from the North East and beyond.
