NEHU professor admitted in hospital after miscreants assaulted him in his office

A professor of the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) was physically assaulted by miscreants at his office chamber on Thursday evening.
To strongly condemn the incident, the teaching fraternity of the university has decided to peacefully protest in front of the Vice Chancellor’s office today at 3pm, to seek assurance from the administration and demand concrete steps to ensure safety and security of faculty members.
On Thursday, Dr Alok Singh was admitted in the hospital after the miscreants, who were claiming themselves to be the custodian of NEHU administration, physically assaulted and brutally beaten him up in his office chamber.
“We, the faculty members of NEHU, stand with Dr Alok Singh ji and want to express our solidarity with him and in no way we will be afraid of such criminals who want to defame the University by violating the established rules, regulations, statues and ordinances. We are aware of and have witnessed the activities and mode of operation of such criminals during the past few months, they claim to be the NEHUSU office bearers. We condemn this cowardly act of violence,” the teaching fraternity of the university said.
“This heinous act, which is an attempt to murder a faculty member in his own office, must be condemned in the strongest possible terms. It is not just an attack on one individual, but on the dignity, safety, and sanctity of the entire teaching community,” they said.
The NEHU faculty members also demanded the university authorities, central government, and law enforcement agencies, to take appropriate action without delay and miscreants shall be behind the bars for justice.
