NEHU students temporarily suspend hunger strike, protest to continue
Students of North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) have decided to temporarily suspend their 16-day hunger strike due to health concerns on November 20.
The decision was announced by NEHU Students’ Union (NEHUSU) President Sandy Sohtun, who said, “We will pause the hunger strike but continue a sit-in demonstration daily from 9 AM to 5 PM at the same spot until our demands are met.”
The protest, which began on November 5, demands the resignation of Vice Chancellor Prof. PS Shukla and the removal of the Registrar and Deputy Registrar. Many students were hospitalized due to health issues during the strike.
