NEHUSU-KSU close down VC’s office, reteriates demand for Prof Shukla’s removal

The North Eastern Hill University Students’ Union (NEHUSU) and the Khasi Students Union (KSU) on Thursday locked the office of the vice chancellor Prof PS Shukla as a mark of protest against him rejoining the university.
This came after Prof PS Shukla has recently claimed that he had resumed his duties as NEHU vice chancellor on March 3.
The protesting student bodies also locked the gates of the university to ensure Prof Shukla is not allowed to enter the campus.
They have reiterated their demand for immediate removal of Prof Shukla, for allegedly being responsible for the ongoing crisis in the university.
Expressing concern, NEHUTA president Prof Lakhon Kma had said in long fifty plus years of history of NEHU, there is no precedence of such a claim of resuming duty virtually when one hasn’t rejoined from earned leave that Prof Shukla has been applying for since last three and half months.
“The NEHUTA finds that such a claim is misplaced and it betrays all procedures and rules of the University, especially in the context of a totally errant VC like Prof. P. S. Shukla, who brought NEHU down to the lowest by his wrongdoings, for which the Inquiry was conducted,” Prof Kma said
