NESFAS recognized for transformative grassroots sustainability efforts at Synergy and Sustainability Symposium IV

The North East Slow Food & Agrobiodiversity Society (NESFAS) was honoured at the Synergy and Sustainability Symposium IV, held on April 24 at The Chancery Pavilion, Bengaluru. Recognized by INDIAdonates under the category “Amplifying Impact through Ground-Up Community-Led Action,” NESFAS was celebrated for its transformative work in promoting agro-livelihoods and fostering community-driven sustainability.
The organization’s inclusive approach to revitalizing local food systems has made a significant impact at the grassroots level, emphasizing self-reliance and ecological stewardship.
Representing NESFAS at the symposium were Executive Director Pius Ranee and Senior Associate Nangshan Skhem Lyngdoh (Administration & Finance). In his speech, Ranee expressed his appreciation for the recognition, stating, “I extend my heartfelt thanks to INDIAdonates for acknowledging NESFAS’s efforts in revitalizing, safeguarding, and promoting local food systems.”
He further highlighted the increasing challenges to biodiversity and food security, noting, “Coming from a region rich in biodiversity, we are witnessing growing threats to our food systems. In the face of these challenges, we need more support to restore pride, especially among young people, by introducing and reviving nature-based livelihoods through innovative approaches. We believe this will help reconnect them with Mother Earth.”
The symposium provided an opportunity to showcase NESFAS’s ongoing commitment to sustainability. As stakeholders continue to push for scalable and impactful solutions, NESFAS remains a shining example of how community-led action can drive meaningful change.
