NESO takes up aggressive campaign against CAB in New Delhi
SHILLONG: The North East Students’ Organisation (NESO) on Sunday sought the support of the different political parties against the move of the Centre to implement the Citizenship Amendment Bill.
The delegation of the NESO which comprises of leaders from the KSU, AASU, GSU, AMSU, TSF, AAPSU, MZP and TSF, met the JDU Vice President Prashant Kishor and MP from BJD Bhartruhari Mathab in New Delhi.
“The JDU vice president has assured the delegation that the party will be all out to vote against the CAB if it is brought in the Rajya Sabha,” NESO chairman Samuel B Jyrwa said in a statement.
He informed that Mathab also assured the delegation that the BJD is not infavour of this Bill and will vote against if it is introduced in the Rajya Sabha.
The NESO team also met Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma, who together with other political parties of the North East including the AGP, NPF, INPT, have also reiterated their strong opposition to this Bill.
“They also assure the NESO team that they are making an all out effort to see that this Bill is not passed if it is introduced in the Rajya Sabha,” Jyrwa informed.
Later tonight, the NESO team will also be meeting with Sanjay Raut, MP from the Shiv Sena. The NESO has decided to continue its campaign against the Citizenship bill by meeting the leaders of other political parties on this very vital issue.
