NGEA to boycott the upcoming GHADC elections
The Non-Gazetted Employees Association (NGEA) has decided to boycott the upcoming election slated to hold on April 9 if the government fails to clear the royalty share of Rs. 55 crores and to clear the pending salary of employees for the past 36 months.
The NGEA has submitted the memorandum to the Hon’ble Governor of Meghalaya apprising the various issue and the grievances faced by the employees of GHADC on Thursday.
In a memo to the Governor of Meghalaya, the NGEA has apprised and requested to the Governor to intervene in non-releasing of royalty share of Rs.55 Crores due to the GHADC and further mention due to non-released of the royalty share to the GHADC the authority of GHADC is not able to released and pay the monthly salaries to the employees on regular basis.
The NGEA also requested the Governor to utilized the amount of Rs.18.20 Crores sanctioned by the central Govt. in the month of December last year for various Developmental project for payment of salaries to the employees as there is no Executive committee in GHADC and in the absence of Executive Committee carrying out the Developmental activities is impractical, therefore requesting the Governor to make use of the said amount i.e. Rs.18.20 Crores for payment of salaries to the employees who have not been receiving their salaries for about 36 months.
The NGEA also strongly opposed with regards to the announcement made by the Deputy Chief Minister Govt. of Meghalaya that a total amount of Rs.15 Crores will be recovered from the royalty share of GHADC and used the said amount for the upcoming election to the GHADC.
The NGEA question the State Govt. and their seriousness on the issue of non-payment of salaries to the employees for the last 36 months stating that, if the Goyt. can release and recover the royalty share of GHADC amounting to Rs. 15 Crores for the purpose of spending the said amount for election to the GHADC why the Govt. can do the same to release the legal due share of royalty of GHADC to the GHADC and pay the salaries to the employees who had been remaining without pay for the past 36 months.
It is stated that due to non-payment of salaries to the employees more than 25 employees and family of the employees of GHADC had been expired and in this matter the case is still pending in the Meghalaya Human Right Commission the reason for date of 25 employees of GHADC is that they were not able to afford and abide the medical assistance due to lack of money.
NGEA will boycott the upcoming election to the GHADC by abstaining from their duties and work if the Govt can pay the royalty Rs.55 Crores and clear their salaries.
The NGEA further demand that immediate removal and transfer of present Secretary of GHADC for various reason particularly or harassingly the employees and the leader of the NGEA for raising various issue particularly on the issue of nonpayment of salary to the employees and for diverting the revenue meant for paying the salaries to the employees for some other purpose and for other Developmental activities.
The NGEA and the employees of GHADC as a whole is very firm on their stand that they will fulfill their decision by boycotting the election and abstaining from their works/duties if the Govt. of Meghalaya fail to clear the royalty share to the GHADC and to pay the salaries to the employees i.e. pending for the last 36 months.
