NGEA to seek Guv’s intervention over GHADC pending salary issue

The Non-Gazetted Employees Association (NGEA) has decided to seek the intervention of the Governor Satya Pal Malik on the need to postpone the elections to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) until all pending salaries of the employees are cleared.

“The NGEA will soon meet the Governor along with the memorandum to apprise him (on the need) to postpone the elections until the state government release all the royalty share of the GHADC to clear their pending salaries,” the association said in a statement issued on Saturday.

The association also threatened to boycott the GHADC polls. “If the state government failed to release the royalty share of GHADC and fail to clear the monthly salary of the employees, we will have no option but to boycott the elections by abstaining from our work,” it said.

This also came as a reaction to the statement made by the deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong that the GHADC would require Rs 15 as expenditure for the conduct of the upcoming elections.

Meanwhile, the NGEA also demanded the DCA minister Lahkmen Rymbui to clarify on his statement made on December 15, last year that out of Rs 45 crore sanctioned by the 15^th Finance Commission under the special plan assistance, sum of Rs 18.20 crore had been allocated to the GHADC.

It said this is because during the hearing, the counsel for the GHADC secretary had denied that the amount was received by the GHADC.
