NGH’s fisheries dept gets new office Building

The office of the Superintendent of Fisheries, North Garo Hills on Tuesday inaugurated its new office building at Gangdubi Fish Farm in Mendipathar. The new office building was inaugurated by A L Mawlong, Director of fisheries, Shillong amid the presence of Deputy Directors of Fisheries, A Jyrwa and P Phawa and heads of various line departments within the district.

While dedicating the new office building, Mawlong called upon the fisheries officials to review its level of performance in the past years whether they were able to achieve its goal of serving the rural poor.

She made an appeal to all the officers of different departments to cooperate towards working for the upliftment of the socio-economic condition of the people. She also highlighted the gathering of the Meghalaya State Aqua Culture Mission which was initiated with the objective to boost fish productivity in the state.

Earlier on Monday, the Director also inaugurated Fish Feed Mill at Bajengdoba and Fish Retail Outlet at Resubelpara which were established under Blue Revolution 2018-2019. The fish feed mill is expected to produce floating pelleted feed for fish while the fish retail outlet provided with a freezer and a fish van for the transportation of fish will ensure regular fish supply to the outlet.
