Niamtre faithful call for action on corruption and environment at Behdienkhlam Festival
“Let’s take a pledge to fight against corruption before it is too late,” appealed the Niamtre faithful of Umshangiar Locality, Jowai through their traditional rots to the people of Meghalaya.
Designed and created by the faithful of Umshangiar, the rot was immersed at the last day of the four days long Behdienkhlam State Festival in Aitnar Pool, Chiliang Raij, Jowai on Wednesday. They also sent message to the Meghalaya Government in the other side of the same rot, which read as “Meghalaya Sustainable Development is not just a goal but a shared promise for generation to come.”
An urgent message for preservation of water was spread by the faithful of Tympang Iawmusniang Locality, Jowai which reads, “Destroy Water You Destroy Life” and “Be Part of the Solution Not Part of the Pollution.”
The faithful of Loomiongkjam locality through their rot urged the people to earn wealth through honest means and shun away from unfair means as they will not be able to carry their wealth after death.
Meanwhile, the members of Sein Tyllilang Niamtre Ladthadlaboh emphasized on the importance of conservation of environment and the faithful of Seng Khasi Shillong called for unity. Altogether 12 traditional rots carried by faithful of respective localities and organizations were immersed in the Aitnar Pool.
