Night Curfew extended in East Khasi Hills District
The East Khasi Hills district magistrate Matsiewdor Nongbri has extended the night curfew in the entire district from 9 pm to 5 am of July 15, to July 20.
In an order issued on July 14, the curfew was extended in view of prevailing situation concerning the spike of COVID-19 pandemic in the state, country and globally.
The order however will not apply to security forces, medical teams on duty, wholesale and retail pharmacies, police and armed forces, and other essential services
“Exemption granted to Official and Non-Official emergency/essential services, establishments and agencies above shall not extend to Frontier Headquarter BSF Campus, Umpling, which is declared containment area,” the order said.
“These services shall strictly comply with all protocols and procedures including social distancing limiting of field staff to the barest minimum and other advisories of government in the health and family welfare department without fail,” she said.
The district magistrate has also prohibit inter-state movement, operation of unregulated major markets, educational institutions, training centres, opening of religious places, large public gathering and congregation and others.
