No change in cabinet: CM
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Wednesday ruled out the possibility of a cabinet reshuffle.
Sangma was responding to a query if he would consider a cabinet reshuffle after winning in the just concluded bye elections to the three Assembly seats.
The ruling National People’s Party (NPP) won the Mawryngkneng and Rajabala seats while its main ally United Democratic Party (UDP) bagged the Mawphlang seat.
“My answer was very clear to you that we work with commitment in our coalition. When we have given our word, we stick by our commitment,” Sangma told reporters.
“Yes, we have got additional MLAs and it’s positive but that does not mean that we forget our friends who were with us during those difficult times. We should not forget our coalition partners who have supported us through different issues. Therefore, just because we have additional numbers it doesn’t mean we can use them when we want and throw them away when we don’t want them,” he said.
He added, “This is not how coalition should work, this is not how we build trust. We are very clear, we are building trust among our coalition partners and they’re sticking by them and there’s no question of any change in the cabinet.”
