No Class XII Commerce students in two districts in Meghalaya

The State of Meghalaya is in its 50^th year of existence but there are two districts namely South Garo Hills and South West Garo Hills where there is no student who pursuit the Commerce Stream either there is no higher secondary school or college for the Commerce Stream or the students do not want to choose Commerce Stream.

This came to light with the declaration of the result of the Higher Secondary Schools Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) for both Commerce Stream and Science Streams on Thursday’s morning. Out of 2047 students who opted for the Commerce Stream, 1712 of them were successful in the Board examination and the total pass percentage is 83.63.  

According to the district-wise breakup of the candidates of pass percentage of HSSLC Commerce Stream Examination, West Khasi Hills secured 100 percent as all 42 candidates cleared the examination followed by East Jaintia Hills with 91.84 percent as 45 out of 49 students passed the examination.

East Khasi Hills recorded 85.82 percent as 1053 candidates out of 1227 cleared the Board while in Ri-Bhoi 124 appeared but 110 passed making a total percentage of 88.71 and West Garo Hills with 124 successful students out of 181 making it a percentage of 68.51 percent.

73 out of 77 students in East Garo Hills passed the examination and the total pass percentage was 94.81, South West Khasi Hills 59 appeared but 44 passed and the percentage is 74.58 while West Jaintia Hills 124 passed out of 158 students and the percentage stand at 78.48, North Garo Hills 48 appeared but 24 cleared and the pass percentage stand at 50.00 and the youngest district Eastern West Khasi Hills recorded pass percentage of 89.02 as 73 out of 82 students passed the examination

Meanwhile, the total pass percentage of HSSLC Science Stream is 71.62 as 2135 out of 2981 students cleared the Board Examination. The district wise breakup of the pass percentage of HSSLC Science Stream as East Khasi Hills with 75.32 percentage as 1102 out of 1463 students while West Khasi Hills 101 appeared and 60 passed and the percentage is 59.41 and Ri-Bhoi 52 out of 83 students passed the examination and the percentage is 62.65.

West Garo Hills 341 out of 498 passed the examination and the percentage is 68.47 while East Garo Hills recorded 71.23 percentage as 52 out of 73 cleared the examination. South Garo Hills pass percentage is 50 percent as 6 out 12 passed the examination and South West Khasi Hills 63 appeared 40 passed and the percentage is 63.49.

West Jaintia Hills recorded 71.43 percentage with 285 out 399 students cleared the board while East Jaintia Hills 38 appeared but 24 passed and the percentage count at 63.16, North Garo Hills 60 appeared and 37 passed and the percentage is 61.67 while South West Garo Hills recorded 100 percent as all 28 cleared the examination and Eastern West Khasi Hills with 163 students who appeared the examination but 108 cleared and the percentage is 66.26.
