No fresh COVID-19 cases in Meghalaya
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said out of 838 samples tested, 714 were negative, while the results of 113 tests were awaited.
He said there are only 10 active cases of now. All the patients tested positive for COVID-19 are stable and are under quarantine.
Apart from other programmes to prevent further spread of the virus, Sangma said the government has also started the disbursement of financial assistance under the Chief Minister’s Special Grant (CMSG) for individuals stranded in different parts of the country.
He said for this purpose, such individuals have been categorized as workers, students, professionals and others.
“Therefore, we have selected the workers group first and as we speak the money for supporting them (at Rs 3,000) is being given to 1,617 people stranded in different parts of the country. We will continue this process for other categories of students and professionals also,” said the CM.

On concerns regarding labours from other States stranded in Meghalaya, the Chief Minister clarified that daily wage earners, who are stranded in the State are taken care by the State government through respective DCs.

“It is very clear that every State government in every part of the country is supposed to take care of all migrant labourers. Like followed in other States, Meghalaya government has been supporting and taking care, providing food and shelter to all migrant daily wage earners from different parts of the country stranded in our State,” the Chief Minister added.

On drivers involved in supplying of essential commodities in the State, the Chief Minister stated that they are being screened and tested. “We are disinfecting the trucks and the vehicles that are coming in to our States. There is delay in the transportation of products because these processes and protocols are being followed,” the Chief Minister added.
