No more attempt by Assam police to construct outpost at Khatkasla: HM
SHILLONG: Home Minister James K Sangma today informed that the Assam police has withdrawn from a village along the inter-state border in West Jaintia Hills District.
“Now the party (Assam police) has moved out from that area and no attempt have been made by the Assam police to construct an outpost there so the matter has been resolved peacefully,” Sangma told reporters on Thursday.
The incident took place at Khatkasla village in the district. He said that the incident had taken place and immediately the district administration got in touch with the counterpart in Assam.
“Our chief minister Conrad K Sangma also had a word with his counterpart and we have told them that this sort of incident had taken place and immediately the Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal had instructed the Assam police to withdraw from that area,” Sangma said.
Asked, the home minister said that what is important is that the issue has been resolved amicably through dialogue adding “We have to see it from the point of view that Assam has listen to what we said and there is always sometime lack of communication but we were able to resolve it.”
Meanwhile informing that the meeting of two chief ministers of Assam and Meghalaya will be held very soon, Sangma informed that the state is trying to find time which is suitable to both the CMs of the two states. “Whenever they find the suitable time very soon they will sit and discuss this very important issue,” he said.
