No regrouping of GNLA: police confirmed after arrest of S/s Chief Executive Director
With the arrest of three persons including one self styled Chief Executive Director of the banned Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA), the Meghalaya Police has confirmed there is no regrouping of GNLA but a malafide attempt of some vested interests the act to create a fear psychosis in general public and to extort money from businessmen.
Police said three persons namely Namchang Ch Momin @ Jingjang D Shira, 22 yrs of Darangagre Village PS Dalu, WGH who is the self styled Chief Executive Director of GNLA along with Adot M Sangma, 26 yrs from Ganipara, PS Dalu, WGH and Silwit R Marak, 26 yrs from – Nalnapara, PS – Dalu, WGH surrendered at Kherapara OP.
Police said a counter-insurgency operation was launched and while the police team was on the way to Darangagre village they learnt that the three surrendered in Kherapara OP. Police said that the team returned to Kherapara OP and questioned all the three persons.
Subsequently, a house search was conducted at the residence of Namchang Ch Momin @ Jingjang D Shira and several incriminating materials like camouflage uniform, boots etc. were recovered and duly seized.
Police suspected that some more persons might have been involved in the act and investigation is underway to unearth the whole conspiracy.
