No scheduled loadshedding this year: Mondal

Power Minister AT Mondal on Thursday said he is getting tremendous support from the Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma to improve the functioning of the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) and improve the power generation of the state.
“I am getting tremendous support from the Chief Minister. I never expected that he would support us to that extent and that is why we are working hand in hand to see that the functioning of MeECL is improved and that the power distribution, whatever the deficit is there, is improved,” Mondal told reporters.
Stating that there is a lot of difference now, Mondal said the people of the state were subjected to 7-9 scheduled loadshedding in 2023.
“But today I am saying that we are going for scheduled load shedding,” he announced.
The minister however said there will be times when people would suffer due to shutdowns by MePDCL for repairing and carrying out of the ongoing Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) works.
