No taxis will ply for five days in whole of Meghalaya

As preventive measures to combat the spread of Covid-19 in the State, the Meghalaya Government has decided to restrict the use of local taxis and auto rickshaw by keeping them off the roads for four days.

According to notification only 25% of local taxis / Auto Rickshaws will operate in the Districts of East Khasi Hills, West Jaintia Hills&West Garo Hills on Monday and Thursday this week.

The notification directed that all local taxi/Auto Rickshaw operators of all Districts will keep their taxis off road (shall not operate) on dates as mentioned on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

100 % of local taxis/ Auto Rickshaws in the entire State shall not operate and remain of road. Special permission for medical emergencies may be obtained from respective DTOs

lt is further reiterated that all local taxis/Auto Rickshaws plying on the above dates are to ensure that there is proper social distancing and there shall be no close contact among the passengers

All District Transport Officers are directed to ensure strict compliance of this order
