Nongpoh MLA urges Govt to make trauma centre operational
Congress legislator from Nongpoh Mayral Born Syiem on Friday urged the state government to operationalise the trauma centre at the Nongpoh civil hospital within this year.
This is one of the important projects which is lying pending for operational despite locating along the National Highway-40, which witnessed accident cases, Syiem said while raising the issue in the Assembly.
In his reply, Cabinet Minister Lahkmen Rymbui assured that the government will try to make the trauma centre operational as soon as the work is completed.
He informed that the trauma centre has been taken up nder the scheme “capacity building for development of trauma care facility in national highways under centrally sponsored scheme (CSS).
At present, the physical and financial progress of the work is 75% and the building is currently utilized as COVID ward and district COVID laboratory.
The total project cost is Rs 3.6 crore out of which Rs 2.40 crore for equipments, Rs 2 lakh for communication and Rs 60,000 for others.
Rymbui however said due to some constrain as the building is being used COVID centre, completion will takke sometime.
“Let us hope this phase of COVID is over so that work can be taken up in full swing,” he added.
