North Liberty Higher Secondary School celebrates student achievements in SSLC and HSSLC Exams
North Liberty Higher Secondary School, Jowai, a renowned institution in West Jaintia Hills, honoured its students who excelled in the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) (Arts and Science) on June 21.
The ceremony, held at the school’s campus, was a grand affair. The chief guest, Mackdonald Marbaniang, Director of Administration, MBOSE, Shillong, and the guest of honour, Conquestina Lyngdoh, Sub Inspector of Schools, Jowai, graced the occasion. Principal Bah Richard B Uriah attended the event, along with proud parents, dedicated teachers, enthusiastic students, and other notable community members.
Principal Richard B Uriah announced that the school is gearing up for its silver jubilee celebrations next year, in 2025, and various event will organised to celebrates. He congratulated all the students who excelled in the SSLC and HSSLC (Arts and Science), especially the toppers who secured top ten positions in the HSSLC examinations, a testament to the school’s academic rigor and support.
Weibha Nongtdu Lakiang and Joshavian Onan Paswet shone in the Science Stream, securing 6th and 7th places with scores of 93.2% and 92%, respectively. Fredrique Qweneth Ryngkhlem made history in the Arts Stream with a 7th place finish, scoring 85.2%.
Additionally, the school honoured 133 SSLC candidates and 94 HSSLC candidates, recognizing 35 Science Stream and 59 Arts Stream students for their commendable performances.
North Liberty Higher Secondary School, renowned for its academic excellence, is equally committed to nurturing athletic talent. The school offers 100 percent scholarships under the sports quota, fostering young athletes’ development and ensuring they excel in both academics and sports. Mackdonald Marbaniang praised the school’s dedication to modern education and community betterment. He urged students to remain focused and committed, emphasizing, “As students, you must set aside distractions and devote these crucial years to your studies to succeed in life. Perseverance is key, as the syllabus is extensive, and you must face it with determination.”
He encouraged students to prepare for competitive exams, especially in the civil services, to contribute to better governance and society. He also congratulated the students who achieved Top 10 positions in the Arts and Science streams, wishing them continued success.
Marbaniang also highlighted the educational progress in the West Jaintia Hills District, where this year the pass percentage exceeded 80% in both SSLC and HSSLC exams.
