Northeast: The powerhouse of India’s future – Assam Governor flags off Think India Summit 2025
Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya inaugurated the Think India Northeast Summit 2025 at IIT Guwahati on Saturday, emphasizing the region’s crucial role in India’s transformation into a global superpower.
In his address, Acharya highlighted Northeast India’s rich heritage, biodiversity, and energetic youth as key drivers of progress, urging young minds to spearhead innovation and development during the nation’s Amrit Kaal. He commended Think India for its unwavering focus on the Northeast and expressed hope that discussions at the summit would drive advancements in education, sustainability, and economic empowerment.
The Governor underscored the government’s commitment to infrastructure development, digital connectivity, and economic inclusivity, terming them as catalysts for the region’s growth. He also celebrated the legacy of Northeast’s historical icons like Lachit Borphukan and Veer Chilarai, crediting their valiant spirit as an inspiration for today’s youth.
Further, Acharya emphasized Northeast India’s strategic significance as a gateway to Southeast Asia, acknowledging past geographical challenges while lauding the region’s resilience and thriving academic, cultural, and trade ecosystem. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for the remarkable progress seen in connectivity, infrastructure, and economic development in the Northeast.

Looking ahead, the Governor envisioned the youth as key enablers of Industry 4.0, urging them to explore frontiers in Artificial Intelligence, healthcare, sustainable agriculture, climate-resilient crops, and skill development. He expressed confidence that their innovations would propel the Northeast to new heights and play a pivotal role in India’s journey towards becoming a global superpower.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including IIT Guwahati Director Prof. Devendra Jalihal, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad national organizing secretary Ashish Chauhan, IIT-G Professor Uday Shankar Dixit, and a host of other distinguished guests.
