Notorious bike lifters arrested for looting petrol pump

Three persons were arrested for their involvement in the looting of one petrol pump in East Khasi Hills District.

According to police, on March 7, last Police arrested two persons involved in the looting case namely (1) Barabor Namsaw@ Kyrshan Makri from Police Bazar and selzed from his possession 1(one) bike AS-01BH-5342 used for commission of crime and Bhaijan Warbah from Mawkasiang village and seized one alto car Regd. No. ML-10-C-5608. However, Barabor Namsaw escaped from police custody on March 08, last and a case was registered vide Sadar P.S. Case No 61(3)2022 u/s 224 IPC.

On Tuesday, Police from Sadar P.S and Nongmynsong O.P arrested Barabor Namsaw alongwith one Shri. Khraw Shylla from Nongmensong. They have been involved in several bike thefts in the city for which investigation is on.

Notably on November 19, last year @ 9 PM robbers entered the cash counter of the Mawkhanu Service Station, Indian Oil (Petrol Pump) and shot two staff with a pistol as a result of which they were injured and brought to NEIGHRIMS hospital and treated. The miscreant then decamped with about Rs. 2,00,000/- (Rupees two lakhs) and fled away. In this connection a case was registered vide Diengpasoh PS Case No. 19(11)2021 U/S 120B/452/326/307/427 IPC R/w Section 27 Arms Act and investigated into.
