NPP all set to stake claim to form new EC in GHADC
The ruling National People’s Party (NPP) is all set to stake claim to form the new executive committee in the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC).
“We are hopeful that the NPP-led EC will be formed in coalition with other political parties and independents,” Chief Minister and NPP national president Conrad K Sangma said on Thursday.
He however said that the decision will be taken as soon as all the MDCs sit for a meeting.
Asked, Sangma said the NPP has already been contacted by a number of independents and other political parties.
“So we are in touch with them and we are hopeful that we will be able to form the EC in the district council but we are yet to meet since all the MDCs are busy in their respective constituencies,” he added.
The NPP, which has won only 11 seats, is likely to form the new EC with its partners – BJP (2), GNC (1) and 3 Independent candidates.
