NPP announces candidates for two Assembly seats
The ruling National People’s Party (NPP) on Tuesday announced its candidates for the two of the three Assembly seats, which bye elections will be held on October 30.
Informing this, NPP state president and Rajya Sabha MP Dr WR Kharlukhi said that NPP is keen to contest from all the three seats.
He said the party has decided to field sitting MDC Pyniaid Sing Syiem from Mawryngkneng constituency and Abdul Saleh from Rajabala constituency.
He however said a decision for Mawphlang constituency is still pending.
When asked, Dr Kharlukhi said, “I am hundred percent confident of winning. In every fight I am always confident of winning.”
On the Congress’ allegation of misgovernance under the MDA regime, the NPP chief however said, “We will see, October 30 is the voting day and November 2 is the result so we will see whether he (Mukul Sangma) is right or wrong. It is easy to pinpoint on the government and I think in the last session, the CM has given him a befitting reply so let’s see.”
He also asserted that the fight is going to be interesting when the opponent is strong.
“So we like our opponent to be strong,” he added.
