NPP appoints Lapang as chairman of NECC

SHILLONG: National People’s Party (NPP) National President and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has appointed veteran politician DD Lapang as chairman of the party’s North East Coordination Committee (NECC). 

 “I am happy to inform you that I have appointed you as the chairman of the NECC with immediate effect,” Sangma said in a letter on January 14. 

Lapang, a five-time former chief minister, was earlier appointed as the chief adviser to the Meghalaya government.
