NPP led govt allowing transportation of coals from Red Zone
In protest against the State Government’s decision for allowing transportation of coals from Assam to East Jaintia Hills District, a host of former MLA and former MDCs tendered their resignation from the National People’s Party (NPP) on Saturday.
Justine Dkhar Ex-MLA,Violet Lyngdoh Ex-MDC, Joinriwell Pyrtuh Ex-MDC, Thomas Nongtdu Ex-MDC, Topas Lapasam of Khliehriat West, Burin Shadap of Dkhiah East, lasylloklang Lyngdoh of Rymbai, Leo Dkhar of Pamrakmai submitted a joint resignation letter to the State President of the NPP, Shillong.
“We resigned as members of the National People’s Party as the Party is not well organized as such there is no platfom to listen to the Public grievances,” the letter said.
“Peoples are fighting hard against the spreading of the Pandemic (COVID-19) whereas the Party which lead the government is inviting the Virus through truck drivers and helpers by allowing them to come from outside the State (RED ZONE AREA) to East Jaintia Hills District,” the ex-law makers lambasted the party.
The Party knows very well that East Jaintia raw materials for the requirement of Cement Plants under the district but government adamant and blindfolded to the facts District is having enough, the letter said.
