NPP meeting at Jaiaw ends abruptly following disruption

The National People’s Party (NPP) on Monday had to abruptly end its election campaign in one of the localities in Shillong after disruption by supporters of other political parties.

The NPP has organized an election campaign at Jaiaw. Earlier, VPP supporters had attempted to disrupt the election campaign of the NPP at Umsning but the candidate and cabinet minister Ampareen Lyngdoh asked them to leave the venue.

“We have decided to end the meeting as we don’t want any untoward incidents to happen. We thank all the people who have come out to support the party,” an NPP leader said.

A group of supporters belonging to other political parties came and disrupted the meeting, which was arranged to be held at a private residence.
