NPP to fight BJP and form new govt in Manipur: Meghalaya CM
National People’s Party (NPP) national president and Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K Sangma on Sunday said his party will fight against the BJP candidates and will become the single largest party to lead the new government in Manipur, which is going to polls from February 28 to March 5.
Addressing an election campaign to drum up support to the NPP candidates, Sangma said this election is very different from the past elections as the people of Manipur are tired of all the national parties.
“That is why the people of Manipur in this election are looking towards the NPP to be the single largest party, form the government and lead the state of Manipur and this will happen this time,” he said.
He said that he had been to so many constituencies in Manipur and have never seen this kind of response where the people are coming out in thousands.
Sangma said that Andro candidate L Sanjoy Singh was telling him that this meeting was organized in a short notice as tomorrow is the main programme.
“But even in short notice, look at the number of people that have come here, because they love and support him and that is the love which will make sure he will win this election,” he added.
informing about their visiting the hospital where Sanjoy’s father was admitted after he was shot during an election campaign on Friday night, the NPP chief said, “We told him that all the people of Andro constituency are with you. No matter how much fear the opposition will try to bring our people will not be scared, we will fight the BJP, we will fight their candidates.”
Reiterating that the NPP will be the single largest party in Manipur, Sangma said the reason why people have started accepting the NPP is because the party has got its roots in the state of Manipur and the North East region.
“We are the only political party in the country today that was born in the NE and is made in the NE and today is fighting for the NE and that is the reason why the people of the NE and Manipur have started accepting our party and that is why our party is growing in NE and Manipur,” he said.
He further stated that the NPP is a party that believes in the youth.
“We are a party that believes that the youth of the NE can compete with anybody in the rest of the country also. We believe that the people of the NE can also excell in every field which other parts are excelling in,” Sangma asserted.
