NPP to win GHADC polls: Dr Kharlukhi
The ruling National People’s Party (NPP) has expressed confidence to win from all the 29 seats in the upcoming elections to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) slated to be held on April 9.
“We are preparing to fight to win…from all the 29 seats,” NPP state president and Rajya Sabha MP, Dr WR Kharlukhi told reporters on Thursday.
When asked that the opposition Congress is much ahead as it has already declared its candidates for the GHADC polls, Dr Kharlukhi however said this (election) is not a 100 meter race but is a 15,000 meter race.
He further informed that the NPP will announce its list of candidates as well as the election manifesto at the right time and the right moment.
Reacting to a query if anti-incumbency would affect his party’s performance, the NPP state president said allegations are there but it is for the people to decide.
“The opposition can say whatever they want to say but the thing is that the people of Garo Hills will decide so we will wait and see when the result comes (out),” he said.
