NRLM workshop focuses on Aadhaar benefits for SHG members
The District Mission Management Unit, NRLM-MSRLS, East Jaintia Hills District, on October 21, organized a Consultative Workshop with Community Cadres and NRLM Stakeholders at Khliehriat West Community Hall, Khliehriat. The programme was attended by the Deputy Commissioner of East Jaintia Hills District, Shivansh Awasthi in the presence of Additional Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District, JU Kharpuri.
Also present were Additional Deputy Commissioner & Project Director, DRDA, East Jaintia Hills District, Gautam Warjri; Block Development Officer, Wapung C&RD Block, East Jaintia Hills District, Dr. T Shylla; JRDO- Saipung C&RD Block; Branch Manager, MRB, Wapung; Self Help Group (SHG) members; representatives from Cluster Level Federations of SHGs, Village Organisations (VOs), VEC members, and Traditional Heads.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Shivansh Awasthi emphasized the importance of Aadhaar Card for SHG members, explaining how it helps in completing profiling in LOKOS, enabling them to access various benefits. He also highlighted how SHG members can easily view their profiles through LOKOS, while the Mobile App helps the government identify SHGs and provide support.
In her speech, Additional Deputy Commissioner JU Kharpuri underscored the importance of Aadhaar for district citizens, as it enables them to access different government schemes.
Meanwhile, Additional Deputy Commissioner & Project Director, DRDA, Gautam Warjri, noted that it is the responsibility of stakeholders, including government officials and community leaders, to encourage people to complete their Aadhaar enrolment and link Aadhaar with schemes like MHIS. He urged those yet to enroll to visit their respective Block Offices for registration.
Presentations were given by the Secretary and President of San Shnong Cluster Level Federation (CLF) and Maitshaphrang Sakhain Village Organisation (VO), showcasing their efforts in educating people on the importance of Aadhaar.
The programme also saw awards given to the best-performing cadres for completing LOKOS profiling in their respective villages under Wapung and Saipung C&RD Blocks. Awards were also presented to Village Organisations (VOs) and Cluster Level Federations (CLFs) with 100% profiling completion.
Speakers reiterated that Aadhaar helps in identifying name and bank account duplicacies, ensuring the correct identification of SHG members. It was also mentioned that East Jaintia Hills District, with a profiling percentage of 85%, is ranked second in Meghalaya in terms of LOKOS profiling.
