NSSO Shillong observed Swachhata Pakhwada 2024
The National Sample Survey Office (NSSO) in Shillong recently concluded a successful “Swachhata Pakhwada 2024,” as part of the nationwide Swachh Bharat Mission. The campaign, initiated by the Government of India, aims to fulfill Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of a clean and hygienic India.
During the two-week-long Swachhata Pakhwada, which took place from June 16th to June 30th, 2024, NSSO (FOD) Regional Office Shillong undertook various activities to promote cleanliness and sanitation. The focus areas included both the office premises and the surrounding ecosystem.
The NSSO staff participated in a tree plantation drive at the Golf Course, enhancing the green cover in the area. Additionally, a thorough cleaning drive was conducted in the vicinity.
Wet and dry garbage bins were donated to Rajasthan Vishram Bhawan and Garikhana, contributing to better waste management practices.
NSSO employees actively cleaned up Police Bazar in Shillong and its nearby areas, ensuring a plastic-free environment.
The 14-day-long campaign received enthusiastic participation from all officers and staff of NSSO (FOD) RO Shillong. Their commitment to maintaining a clean and healthy workplace environment reflects the spirit of Swachh Bharat Mission and contributes to a cleaner India.
