NSUI Meghalaya demands 25% reduction of school, college fees
The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) Meghalaya has demanded the state government to reduce the school and college fees for students by 25 percent.
In a memorandum submitted to the Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui on Thursday, NSUI state president Bansharailang Pyngrope said, “…we humbly write to you respected sir to reduce the school fees and college fees by 25%.”
He said the imposition of lockdown has affected the people in the state, especially the people in the lower strata of society and this has discouraged many students from continuing their education.
According to him, the lockdown has limited people’s ways of earning and has limited their opportunities for employment.
Pyngrope said reduction of school and college fees will not only help the students monetarily but also encourage them to pursue their education with zeal knowing that the state government is behind them in their time of need.
